Chair's Report December 2021

Robin Angel CRSP

On behalf of the BCRSP I wish everyone a wonderful holiday season and the very best wishes for a prosperous and Happy New Year.

As I pause to reflect over the past year, I continue to be amazed at the level of engagement and commitment of the different contributors to our continued success.

During the past three months BCRSP has made significant advances towards the title protection of the profession in Ontario. Stay tuned for an update early in the new year.

The Accreditation Task Force (ATF) has been busy working with the accreditation Standards Advisory Committee (SAC). The draft standard was distributed for national consultation and 1016 respondents provided input. The SAC has the task of now reviewing all the input and producing a final standard document. In 2022, the ATF Communications Sub-Group will be developing a webinar to provide an overview on the accreditation of OHS post-secondary programs.

We have also been actively working with the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH) to leverage our common goals to forge joint initiatives.

In early December the BCRSP Governing Board participated in a hybrid in-person/virtual strategic planning session. We are poised to distill the output to create a 3-year 2022-2024 strategic plan.

The BCRSP Governing Board has also established an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Task Force, headed up by governor Tehzin Chadwick. This task force is creating a framework for the BCRSP to develop initiatives to support new and existing partners in the inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility spaces. I am very excited to work with this amazing group of people who bring a wealth of knowledge and passion for IDEA.

To our board and committee members - you have all shown great resiliency, adapting to a multitude of changes while maintaining a high standard of quality work. You embraced change to ensure the BCRSP continues to provide its superior caliber of service.

To the management team of Fletcher Wright Associates Inc. for all of their efforts to maintain and sustain the BCRSP. Your courteous, timely and informative approach does not go unnoticed.

To all our amazing CRSP and CRST certificants – thank you for keeping us all safe.

These three interconnected groups form the alliance of the BCRSP and are the stable backbone of our organization.

Thank you for all your hard work, for volunteering your time and for sharing your expertise.

During this holiday season please take the time to enjoy your friends and family.

I am truly blessed to be the Chair of the BCRSP. Please be safe and kind.

Sincerely,

Robin Angel, BSc, MSc, CRSP
