Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $82,217 to $121,155 per year in compliance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.

In this role, you will: • Provide policy analysis, advice and technical expertise to senior management, the Deputy Minister and the Minister on a broad range of workplace insurance and occupational health and safety issues • Plan, and participate on cross-cutting project teams of staff from other divisions/branches to plan the development and implementation strategies of policy products • Consult with key stakeholders, negotiate and resolve conflicts to ensure policy proposals balance competing interests How do I qualify?

Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:

• You have the ability to review legislation and regulatory structures of public policy and labour relations to develop policy recommendations • You can conceptualize and plan research projects, identify/ develop procedural frameworks, and implement plans • You understand and can apply research principles used to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess the impact of policy proposals • You understand how to evaluate the impact of policy proposals on the ministry and its stakeholders, and can identify opportunities for consensus on mutual issues • You have demonstrated organizational skills to occasionally lead the consultation process with partners and interest groups

Technical Knowledge:

• You have knowledge of workplace insurance and occupational health and safety legislation, policy and law, workplace trends and emerging policy issues in the field • You have experience utilizing policy development principles, techniques, and government decision making and accountability frameworks, and regulatory approvals processes • You have an understanding of provincial and ministry strategic objectives and priorities • You understand legal concepts as they relate to legislative and regulatory policy, including theories and principles and legislation governing workplace insurance law

Interpersonal, Leadership and Consulting Skills:

• You can lead and consult to identify the need for policy reform and can occasionally lead teams in policy development • You have consultation and interpersonal skills for consensus building to strengthen stakeholder relations and gain support for program initiatives • You have the ability to resolve emerging identified issues

Communication Skills:

• You have oral communication skills to explain technical concepts, to engage in consultations and to brief senior management, prepare and present reports, provide recommendations • You have written communication skills to prepare technical reports, cabinet submissions, briefing materials and correspondence
