Use of Artificial Intelligence – BCRSP Guiding Principles

BCRSP has developed guiding principles aligned with approaches being undertaken by governments, policy makers, and credentialling bodies regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI).  AI is a machine-based system that infers, from the input it receives, how to generate outputs such as predictions, content, recommendations, or decisions.

The BCRSP is committed to the effective and ethical use of AI throughout its operations.  A risk assessment approach will be applied when considering the use of AI in any of its processes connected to certification.  Some principles that will be considered:

  • Awareness.  Stakeholders should be informed when AI is used.
  • Transparency.  Providing explanations regarding how AI systems reach their conclusions.
  • Fairness. Checks and balances, including subject matter expert review to verify content and decisions.
  • Privacy and Security. Data will be protected and comply with BCRSP’s Privacy Policy and legislation.
  • Inclusiveness.  Certification processes will be accessible to all candidates in the support of fairness.
