Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Program Changes

The BCRSP Governing Board recently approved changes to the CPD Program in response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The changes are aimed to alleviate the impact that certificants may be experiencing due to the current limit on professional development offerings to ensure certificants can meet the CPD requirements.

Changes to Category A3 (Foundational OHS Courses) and A4 (OHS Conferences, Workshops, Seminars, etc.)
The maximum permissible point claim for both these categories has been lifted from 10 to 25 (the maximum points required). This is done to ensure that for certificants who may have already exceeded the previous 10 point maximum, that they can submit and claim for all activities completed within their cycle.

Changes to Category A6 (Self-Directed Learning)
This category is where you would claim all unverifiable activity such as webinars, reading of textbooks, or OHS peer-reviewed research journals. The maximum point claim (previously 5) has been increased to 25 (the maximum points required) to allow certificants to claim all webinar and other reading activities you may have completed. Please note there is a template provided in the CPD guide for you to maintain a record of these activities.

New Category D2 Pandemic Response Reflective Learning Exercise
A special category is being created to allow certificants to submit a template based on a reflective learning exercise in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic.  Completion of the template will be a mandatory requirement in order to claim points in this category. A maximum of 5 points can be claimed. The template is currently under development and will be posted to the website as soon as it is finalized.

A reminder that starting in 2021, completing an ethics course that meets BCRSP Ethics Course requirements is a mandatory part of the CPD program. For information and the application form for course providers to submit a course for approval, click here
