Dear Certificants,
I trust that 2026 has begun positively for you both personally and professionally. The Board convened its annual strategic session in December in Niagara-on-the-Lake and is currently finalizing an updated strategic plan for the upcoming three years. Further information will be shared following the March Board meeting, once the plan has been completed.
On November 24, 2025, BCRSP hosted a virtual event to appreciate active volunteers, featuring a presentation on Building a Super Duper HSE Team by Lee-Anne Lyon-Bartley and Samantha Twynam. The 2025 Volunteer of the Year, Tom Barnett, CRSP, was also recognized. To learn more about this award and Tom click here.
50 Years of Safety Certifications: Honouring our Past, Securing our Future
The BCRSP 50th Anniversary Task Force is actively preparing a special conference to mark this major milestone, scheduled for May 10-12, 2026, in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The Governing Board looks forward to offering this event to certificants and hopes to see many of you attend. Registration has begun and tickets are selling quickly—register early to secure your spot! Celebrate half a century with BCRSP at this unique event; it's an occasion you won't want to miss, and we’re eager to commemorate this achievement together.
Governance
The Expression of Interest for the Board was issued in late 2025, resulting in over 55 submissions to BCRSP. The Nominations Sub-Committee is currently evaluating these submissions and developing a short-list of candidates who will proceed to interviews. The substantial number of applicants for the three available positions reflects strong engagement from our certificants in supporting the profession. Individuals seeking to contribute are encouraged to consider volunteering with BCRSP; beyond Board service, several committees play an active role in advancing certification processes. I am glad to report that interest in both the CRSP® and CRST® certifications remains strong, with a consistent stream of new applicants. Much of this success is thanks to certificants who enthusiastically support and encourage new safety practitioners to pursue BCRSP certification. Thank you for your continued commitment to the profession and to the BCRSP.
