About this Opportunity

This Fox Creek or Whitecourt-based position requires a self-motivated individual with vision, purpose, and energy. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, this role is responsible for loss control management, reducing safety-related losses and the risk of incidents. The position requires a large field presence and a strong relationship with Production Operations.  This is a diverse and evolving role and will require strength in initiating continuous improvement initiatives.  

Primary Responsibilities:

• Development and maintenance of health and safety standards, policies and procedures.
• Provide coaching and training on safety related competencies
• Participate in all levels of risk analysis i.e.: JSA development, SIMOPS, HAZOP
• Support Paramount’s Emergency Management Program assisting in the preparation and implementation of the Emergency Response Plans, related training and required exercises
• Support and lead incident management processes to help ensure proper reporting and analysis of incidents fostering continuous improvement
• Assist in assessing the training curriculum of health and safety related courses
• Support the development, implementation and maintenance of Paramount’s Operations Excellence Management System (POEMS)
• Support Contractor Management processes and contractor performance evaluations with ongoing Safety Management system audits and assessments of site activities
• Monitor, track and communicate key performance indicators
• Conduct and participate in audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Regulatory requirements and Paramount standards
• Liaise with regulatory agencies regarding compliance issues involving health and safety

Qualifications:

• Completion of a High School Diploma (required)
• Valid H2S and First Aid certifications along with a valid Class 5 Driver's License (required)
• Minimum of 5 years in oil and gas industry (required)
• Additional 5 years in a related occupation or safety role (required)
• Preference to candidates with formally recognized safety credentials (e.g., CRSP) 
• Completion of a University degree or technology diploma would be considered an asset
• Formal risk analysis training would be considered an asset
• Familiarity with regulatory agencies and Corporate Policies and Procedures
• P&ID Interpretation, Knowledge in Risk Management Strategies, HAZOP would be considered an asset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Must reside in the Fox Creek or Whitecourt, AB area
