What You Will Do

We are looking for a Manager, Health & Safety to join our vibrant team. Reporting to the Director, Health & Safety, the role supports operational compliance with applicable legislation, client requirements, and company policies while promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the organization. The Health & Safety Manager provides operational leadership, training, guidance, and support to ensure safe work practices, effective risk management, and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety performance.

A Day In The Life

  • Support the implementation and ongoing administration of corporate health and safety policies, procedures, and programs 
  • Conduct workplace inspections and site visits to identify hazards, monitor compliance, and support corrective action follow-up 
  • Coordinate and deliver health and safety orientations, toolbox talks, training sessions, and awareness initiatives 
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to Health & Safety Coordinators, Advisors, or site personnel as assigned
  • Support managers and supervisors in the application of safe work procedures, hazard assessments, and safety practices 
  • Monitor compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, client requirements, and safety standards 
  • Coordinate and support Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) claims management processes, including incident reporting, documentation, communication, modified work planning, return-to-work coordination, and maintaining required records and submissions in accordance with applicable requirements and timelines
  • Provide operational support during regulatory inspections, client audits, and safety reviews 
  • Liaise with site personnel, contractors, and client representatives on routine operational health and safety matters 
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and reinforce safe work practices throughout the organization 
  • Travel to operational and remote worksites as required to support operational health and safety needs 

What You Bring

  • Diploma, certificate, or post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field 
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of related health and safety experience, preferably in industrial, construction, mining, logistics, or multi-site operational environments
  • Strong knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Working knowledge of Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) processes, reporting requirements, and return-to-work practices 
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections, incident investigations, hazard assessments, and audits
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of health and safety management systems is considered an asset
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment 
  • Standard First Aid with CPR/AED certification required 
  • CRSP designation or working towards certification is considered an asset 
  • Experience supporting COR certification processes and audit requirements is considered an asset 
  • Familiarity with Yellowknives Dene culture, communities, and ways of life is considered an asset
