Fleet Training and Safety Analyst

Our Public Works Division is currently seeking a Fleet Training and Safety Analyst. In this position, you are responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of fleet maintenance and operations staff. You will play a vital role in ensuring regulatory compliance and will work collaboratively with all departments to ensure applicable policies and supporting documents are up to date, promoting continuous improvement related to driver safety and awareness for all sections. You will plan, track, conduct and oversee initiatives and training activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all District of Saanich municipal fleet assets.
As a qualified candidate, you will have: Grade 12 or equivalent; Trades Qualification Certificate and Certificate of Apprenticeship in commercial transport, automotive or heavy-duty mechanics; four years of related experience including apprenticeship experience; two years’ experience of training and instruction in a fleet operational environment; Canada Safety Council Defensive Driver Instructor Certification or equivalent and current and valid Class 3 B.C. Driver’s Licence with air brake endorsement in good standing. Train the Trainer certification, air brake instruction certification, experience working a Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement (CVSE) organization or equivalent, experience with electric vehicles and facilitating operational training requirements for fleet maintenance and operations in a Public Works setting, experience in policy interpretation and providing recommendations to Management are all considered assets. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful applicant will work Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (40 hours per week).
