Greenergy International is a UK headquartered fuels company, owned by Trafigura, that owns and operates a number of facilities within the UK, Canada, Europe and globally. With continued large-scale investment and development within Canada the company is now looking to appoint a SHEQ Manager to support the business in managing health and safety throughout Greenergy’s Canadian assets and operations. Although based in Canada, this role will be an integral part of the global SHEQ Team based in the UK.

About the role:
The SHEQ Manager – Canada will act as the lead advisor and implementer for Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality compliance across Greenergy’s Canadian terminals, offices, and projects. This role ensures alignment with Greenergy standards, national/provincial regulations, and industry best practices.
Key Activities:
- Provide Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) support across all Canadian business operations including terminals, offices, and development projects.
- Contribute to and participate in weekly global SHEQ calls and periodic face-to-face meetings
- Conduct incident investigations, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and share lessons learned across the organization.
- Plan, execute, and close out internal audits aligned with Greenergy standards and regulatory requirements.
- Stay current with Canadian OH&S and environmental legislation; apply knowledge in a proactive and compliant manner.
- Maintain strong cross-functional understanding of business operations, including engineering, legal, and financial teams.
- Ensure implementation of Greenergy SHEQ standards and develop tailored local procedures as needed.
- Identify and support ongoing training and competency development for yourself, as well as all team members and stakeholders.
- Champion continuous improvement opportunities in SHEQ systems, culture, and processes.
Skills/attributes and Experience desired:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Health, Safety, Environment, and/or Quality (SHEQ) role, with at least 3 years in a managerial or senior advisor capacity.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in high-risk industrial environments, such as energy, oil & gas, chemical, or fuel terminal operations.
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or equivalent professional certification (e.g., CSP, CHSC) required.
- Strong Health, Safety and Environmental awareness.
- Environment and Climate Change knowledge.
- Proven knowledge of Canadian Federal and Provincial OH&S legislation, including WHMIS and environmental regulations.
- Strong experience in conducting incident investigations, audits, and risk assessments.
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering processes, change management, process safety, and permit-to-work systems.
- Proficient in developing and delivering safety programs, reports, and compliance strategies
- Experience of Hazard Operability studies. Including ability to read and understand designs and drawings
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Valid Canadian driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly throughout Canada.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
- IT Literate - Competency in standard office software and SHEQ management systems
- Fuel Quality knowledge would be an asset
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
The estimated base salary range for this position is $115,000 - $165,000 CAD per annum, however base pay will be commensurate with job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
