Mississauga, ON – September 17 2019 — The Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) is pleased to announce Graham Nelson, Occupational Health and Safety Specialist at the University of Ottawa as Volunteer of the Year for 2019.
Graham has been a CRSP since 2010 and is a strong advocate for workplace health and safety.
With particular interest in the examination development and administration process, Graham volunteered in 2011 and was a member and eventual vice-chair of the CRSP Examination Committee. Graham has stayed involved in the examination process as a member of the Item Bank Maintenance Committee. He is currently a Brand Ambassador welcoming new certificants and is the Chair of the CRST Examination Committee.
Outside of the BCRSP, Graham has also volunteered with the Canadian Standards Association, Workplace Safety and Prevention Services, and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

The Board’s Volunteer of the Year program was initiated in 2001 in conjunction with its 25th anniversary and the United Nation’s “Year of the Volunteer”. To be eligible, candidates must be a CRSP® in good standing, must have served in one or more volunteer capacities with the BCRSP other than the Governing Board, must have been a volunteer for a minimum of five years.

BCRSP strives to advance the body of knowledge, the competency of the profession, and the value our certificants bring to society. The Board governs its certificants in order that the public interest may be served and protected.
