We seek several qualified and experienced Health and Safety Site Auditor to perform comprehensive audits Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This role is focused on evaluating the physical locations where IT equipment is installed, identifying risks to personnel and equipment, and providing actionable recommendations to enhance safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of health and safety expertise and IT infrastructure knowledge, along with a keen understanding of environmental risks and accessibility concerns.

You must be comfortable working in a projectized environment, creating documentation, and writing findings and recommendations reports.

Job Function:

  • Participate in project planning and monitoring activities. (Meetings, Planning workshops, Status reporting, etc.)
  • Conduct on-site health and safety audits around the GTA, focusing on the physical placement and accessibility of IT equipment.
  • Assess risks associated with the installation locations of IT equipment, including hazards related to environmental factors and IT technician physical access.
  • Evaluate compliance with relevant City, Provincial and Federal health and safety standards.
  • Document findings for each location, including detailed descriptions of risks and non-compliance issues.
  • Provide practical and effective recommendations to mitigate identified risks and improve installation site safety and accessibility.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive audit reports for each site, summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with field service technicians and IT infrastructure teams to understand operational challenges.
  • Ensure all audit activities are conducted professionally, ethically, and in alignment with organizational goals.

 

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in health and safety auditing, preferably with exposure to IT infrastructure environments
  • Familiarity with Canadian occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Experience working with or auditing data centers, server rooms, or IT equipment installations is highly desirable.
  • Degree, Diploma or Certification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, IT Infrastructure, or a related field.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of IT equipment installations, including server racks, networking devices, and related hardware.
  • Proven experience in identifying and mitigating environmental and physical threats to IT equipment and personnel.
  • Valid and clean driver’s license for travel to audit sites. No demerit points in the last 12 months.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Proficiency in report writing and presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of ergonomic and environmental considerations for IT equipment installations.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality documentation.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the GTA.
  • Comfortable working in diverse environments, including confined spaces and elevated locations.

 

Mandatory Requirements (You must hold one of the following Certifications):

  • ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor Certification
  • International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH)
  • Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST)
  • Certificate in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Systems (COHSES)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CSRP)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Program (OHSA-30)
