Effective July 1, 2018 the eligibility criteria to apply for the CRSP certification changed.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field* OR a 2-year diploma (or certificate) (minimum of 900 hours or 60 credits) in occupational health and safety or equivalent from a recognized academic institution.
- 48 months of professional level OHS experience obtained within the last 72 months (minimum of 900 hours/calendar year of practice in OHS)

UofA students who wish to obtain the necessary educational prerequisites for eligibility for the CRSP designation will now be able to combine the UofA's OHS Certificate and the UofA's Professional Diploma in OHS allowing the combined programs to reach the 60 credits for academic eligibility. Based on the preliminary information available to the BCRSP, the University of Alberta's Diploma Pathway Program offers part-time, f2f/blended/online, designed to qualify for the CRSP eligibility criteria after July 1, 2018. As this program is offered in a modular approach, it may be appropriate for students looking to bridge their existing OHS academic qualification to a CRSP eligible qualification.
