Kevin Dawson, CRSP Appointed BCRSP Governing Board Chair

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO – July 3, 2018 The Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) appoints Kevin Dawson, CRSP as Governing Board Chair effective July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019. Kevin Dawson is the twenty-third Chair since the certification body’s incorporation in 1976 and succeeds Paul Andre who has served as Chair since July 2017. As the BCRSP Governing Board Chair, Kevin Dawson will lead the Governing Board through the execution of its strategic plan and vision. 

As principal consultant at Omnius consulting in Halifax, NS, Kevin Dawson has more than 25 years experience in occupational health and safety. Prior to forming Omnius, Mr. Dawson was the Manager, Safety & Health at Nalcor Energy. Mr. Dawson holds an B.Eng. (Mech) and an MBA from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Mr. Dawson is a member of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) and has served as the CSSE Avalon Chapter Chair. He is also a past Chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Safety Association. Mr. Dawson has been a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)® since 1998.

Joining Mr. Dawson on the 2018-19 Governing Board are newly appointed officers Monica A. Szabo, CRSP (Vice Chair), David Johnston, CRSP (Secretary-Treasurer), and Paul Andre, CRSP in his new role of Past Chair.  Newly elected Governors include Mark Fernandes, MBA, PEng, CRSP, Marianne Matichuk, CRSP, CHSC, COHS, CNM, Dave Rebbitt, MBA, CRSP, CHSC, CET, CD and Sandra Stephens, LLB, LLM (Public Member), and returning Governors include Tareq Al-Zabet, PhD, CRSP, Robin Angel, BSc, MSc, CRSP, Paul Belair, MBA, CRSP, Dale Shafer, MBA, CRSP, and Executive Director Nicola J. Wright, BA (Hons), CAE.

The new Board officially began their term July 1, 2018.
