It’s hard for many of us to imagine the grief caused by an injury or death at work, or an illness caused by occupational exposures, but it’s easy to picture the bright hope that comes with a little bit of support from the community.
In today’s society, we are becoming increasingly aware about local, national and global issues and our buying decisions may be greatly influenced by these issues. Companies are often looking for ways to align themselves with organizations that will highlight their commitment to corporate social responsibility while also increasing their company’s brand awareness.
In 2018, the BCRSP Governing Board signed a partnership agreement with Threads of Life. The Association for Workplace Tragedy Family Support, known as Threads of Life, is a Canadian registered charity dedicated to supporting families after a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease. In addition to the BCRSP being recognized as a national sponsor of the Steps for Life Walks, the BCRSP/Threads of Life agreement also saw the creation of unique scholarship opportunities that support Threads of Life family members to pursue academic qualifications.
Steps for Life-Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy, is the signature fundraising event for Threads of Life and offers opportunities ranging from a $250 Stepping Forward sponsorship to a $2000 Champion level. Becoming a sponsor for Steps for Life demonstrates a company’s commitment to workplace safety and Steps for Life sponsors also reap the benefits. Every level of sponsorship offers forms of recognition such as a logo on t-shirts or signage, space to exhibit at the walk, and even a chance to officially welcome walkers to the event.
BCRSP is proud to be supporting the Steps for Life walk. Steps for Life events happen across Canada, and we are working on having BCRSP teams setup in as many locations as possible. They’re an opportunity to raise awareness about health and safety, and raise funds to help families through peer support and grief education. Most of the walks take place in the first week of May, and we hope that you will join us to help bring awareness to this important cause.
