FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO – August 13, 2018 - The Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2018 BCRSP OHS Student Scholarships. Congratulations to Jeff Sabine, from Saskatchewan Polytechnic Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner Program.
Mr. Sabine will receive a $4,000 cash scholarship from the BCRSP. In recognition of the program that Mr. Sabine attends, the BCRSP will award $1,000 to Saskatchewan Polytechnic OHS Practitioner Program.
"I am thrilled to have been chosen for this year’s OHS Student Scholarship Award. Thank you” said Mr. Sabine. Nolan Horbach, CRSP, Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Program Head described Mr. Sabine as “a dedicated and determined individual who will be a great asset to the OHS profession.”
Awarded annually, up to two (2) $4,000 national scholarships are available to students enrolled, either full-time or part-time, in a two, three or four-year occupational health and safety related program leading to an occupational health and safety certificate, diploma or degree at the undergraduate level. In addition to the scholarship of $4,000, the scholarship recipients receive a credit coupon for the value of the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)® application fee.
Mr. Sabine met the scholarship’s academic eligibility requirements, and his essay on what benefits an occupational health & safety professional can provide to an organization were highly rated by the Scholarship Review Committee. Mr. Sabine’s essay is available on the BCRSP website.
The BCRSP hopes that the scholarships will encourage and assist other students to enroll in OHS programs and bring awareness of the health and safety professional in today’s workplace.
