Eligibility Guidelines for the CRSP®/PSAC® Certification

In order to be eligible to apply for the CRSP®/PSAC®  certification, you must have a combination of education, professional development, and experience. For each component of the eligibility criteria (called Factors) on the application, there is a minimum point requirement against which your application is assessed. Depending on the level of education you have obtained, there may be an exemption from the Professional Development criteria.

Here is an overview of the Eligibility Pathways:

Pathway A

Formal Education (Factor 1)   Have successfully completed a minimum of a one (1) year occupational health and safety (OHS) college or university certificate or diploma program, OR a two (2) year non-OHS college or university program min pts required - 50; max pts available 100
Professional Development (Factor 2)     Can demonstrate completion of professional development over the past five (5) years.

Experience (Factor 3)   Are currently employed full-time at a professional level in OHS and have had three (3) years of continuous full-time OHS experience immediately prior to making an application  minimum pts required: 50 max pts available: 100

Pathway B

Formal Education (Factor 1)     Have successfully completed a four year occupational health and safety degree from a recognized university

Pathway C

Formal Education

Have successfully completed a four year non-OHS  university degree AND a 2 year OHS college or university certificate diploma 100 pts required
Professional Development (Factor 2)  Not Required

Please Note:  To be eligible you are required to meet the minimum requirements in each factor plus have a point total of 150 over all three factors
